About this space

The Old Library is a bright, welcoming ground-floor space that’s perfect for children’s birthday parties and family celebrations, with room for up to 40 guests. Located just off the main foyer, it’s easy to find and simple for parents and little ones to access.

The room’s warm terracotta pink and deep green colours create a cheerful backdrop that works beautifully for balloons, banners, and themed decorations. Large sash windows fill the space with natural daylight, while dimmable lighting lets you set the mood for games, performances, or cake time. Flexible furniture, including lightweight tables, makes it easy to create space for party activities, dancing, or entertainers.

A handy alcove kitchenette with a sink and fridge is ideal for storing birthday cakes, drinks, and party food. Toilets are just outside in the foyer, including male, female, and an accessible toilet, making things easy for families throughout the party. The room’s characterful doorway adds a touch of charm and makes a lovely entrance for birthday guests.

Included in the space hire:

  • Hexagon wood-effect tables and chairs

  • 6ft trestle tables (available on request for food, gifts, or crafts)

  • Wi-Fi

  • Use of the kitchenette

  • Sound system

  • Children's refreshments: Cordial and water
