About this space
At the heart of Stretford Public Hall, our beautiful Victorian Ballroom provides a memorable setting for private parties of all kinds — from milestone birthdays and anniversaries to engagement celebrations and evening receptions. Full of character, warmth and history, the space feels grand yet inviting, making it ideal for both lively celebrations and more relaxed gatherings.
With high ceilings, an elegant mezzanine, large windows and an original wooden floor, the Ballroom is flooded with natural light during the day and transforms effortlessly in the evening. Our professional lighting system allows you to set the perfect atmosphere, whether you’re after a vibrant party feel or something softer and more atmospheric. The room’s excellent acoustics suit speeches, DJs and live bands, and our flexible PA system can be configured to meet your needs.
The Ballroom can accommodate up to 200 guests standing or 120 seated, making it a versatile choice for private events. Your hire includes access to both the Ballroom and the Rylands Room, along with use of the stage, PA system, microphones, projector, event lighting and an iPad for music playback. Tables and chairs are provided, and there’s a small kitchenette are with a sink to support caterers.
A fully staffed bar can be opened by arrangement, subject to an agreed minimum spend based on guest numbers. We’re happy to host DJs, live bands and external caterers, and an urn for hot water is available if required. Guests also have access to nearby toilets, including a dedicated gender-neutral block and an accessible toilet.
Party Hire Options
1pm–11pm: £850
6pm–11pm: £650
Exclusive hire of the full venue for the day can be added for £500, and next-day pack-down access (9am–1pm) is available for £200 if you’d like extra time to clear up or collect items.
As a listed building, we operate a strict curfew: music must end by 10:55pm, the bar closes at 10:45pm, and all guests must leave by 11pm.
Whether you’re planning a big celebration or an intimate evening with friends and family, the Ballroom offers a stunning backdrop — and looks fantastic in photos and videos too.

Rules
We have a noise management plan in place. This must be followed by all users of the building.
Do not obstruct doors or fire exits
Smoking is not permitted in the building-including Vapes
No inflammable materials shall be brought onto the premises
No fittings or alterations to the walls, window frames, floors and decoration of the rooms shall take place. The use of nails, drawing pins, tape, and tacs (eg bluetac) is not permitted. The hall’s ballroom has permanent fittings which can be used to attach decorations to.
No helium-filled balloons are to be used.
Any confetti used must be biodegradable.
Any electrical equipment that is to be plugged in must have an in date PAT test
Bands featuring a drum set must finish their performance by 9pm. Drums will not be permitted after 9pm.
Stretford Public Hall will be the sole trader of alcohol on the premises unless a consent and appropriate approvals have been given in writing.
The hirer shall allow access to our events staff at all times and comply with all instructions given by the duty manager. The hirer will allow access to the police, fire or licensing department as needed and will cooperate with them.
All waste is to be removed from the premises by hirer unless a waste removal charge is agreed.

Venue description
The Hall is a Grade II-listed Victorian building. There is an access ramp to the Hall’s main entrance on Chester Road and step-free access to the building using our side entrance on Dorset Street. We have a lift which services all publicly-accessible floors in the building. We have accessible toilets on both the ground floor and the first floor. Most large events take place in our Ballroom which is on the Hall’s first floor and can be accessed by lift. Unfortunately, we do not have a Hearing Loop at the Hall at present.
Parking & taxis
There are two disabled parking spaces adjacent to the Hall on Dorset Street. We also have two dedicated disabled parking bays in our car park, which is just off Dorset Street. If you are arriving by taxi, they can pull up alongside the Hall on Dorset Street or can use the Hall’s car park for drop-off / collection

Assistance dogs
We welcome assistance dogs in the Hall but please inform us in advance if you intend to bring an assistance dog to an event. We will require evidence that your dog is registered with an organisation that is a member of Assistance Dogs UK.
